Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus reached the second round of the Hobart International by defeating lucky loser Linda Fruhvirtova 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at the Domain Tennis Centre on Monday.
Rus, ranked No 50, will play the winner of the match between American Peyton Stearns and Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed, next.
